Learning to read by reading
Learning to Read by Reading is a program designed for 3-5 year olds to learn to read by reading simple texts designed for early literacy that gradually increase with difficulty in a natural, individualized way. This program promotes a literacy-rich environment which aids the children in making connections about literacy in their everyday thinking, as well as give children opportunities for writing.
|
Children are born ready to learn. They cultivate 85 percent of their intellect, personality and skills by age five.
What parents do, or don't do, has a lasting impact on their child's reading skill and literacy. Many parents are not yet making the most of simple, vital opportunities to stimulate good reading readiness. |
Learning to read early increases a child's language development and vocabulary. A high percentage of children will learn to read no matter what. However, approximately 30% struggle.
Not knowing which children will struggle, this program helps all children get a head start with literacy in hopes that all children succeed in reading. |
The success in learning to read and write carries over into all areas of learning.

"Consulting with Kristyn has given me the tools and knowledge to teach my child to read, which I felt to be an overwhelming responsibility. The ability to email her with questions and receive all these wonderful ideas and suggestions specifically for my child is priceless. Another aspect we enjoy is having Kristyn to share in the triumphs of our child reading her first 100 books, entering the next level of books, or just keeping us motivated!" |
"Kristyn's guidance and support has been an invaluable resource! My 5-year old son was reading simple books independently and confidently only months after we started working with Kristyn. He is so proud of himself as a reader and tells everyone that he is an "author" after writing a number of his own books." |
"Kristyn has a genuine passion for helping young children develop and reach their potential in the area of literacy. She is always excited to hear about my child's interest in reading his books and his growth. She especially enjoys helping us parents to facilitate our own children's learning and loves to see us really "get it!" |
